How To Get Rid Of Dandruff Naturally At Home

Dandruff is a common condition that affects the scalp, causing excessive shedding of skin flakes. Dandruff can have several causes, including dry skin, not cleaning/scrubbing often enough, shampooing too often, scalp psoriasis, eczema, sensitivity to hair care products, or a yeast-like fungus.

There are varieties of dandruff shampoos available in the store. But here we are listing some home remedies to treat dandruff naturally. Follow these remedies once or twice a week for best results.

Coconut Oil & Lemon Massage

Coconut oil helps eliminate dandruff due to its antifungal properties. It also moisturizes dry scalp and provides relief from itching. Lemon helps to exfoliates the scalp. Heat some tablespoons of coconut oil and mix it with equal amounts of lemon juice. Rub it on your scalp and massage for a few minutes. Leave it on for 20 minutes before rinsing it off with shampoo.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is one of the best home remedies for dandruff and hair fall. It also works as a natural hair clarifier and helps clean clogged pores and hair follicles. Try combining equal parts apple cider vinegar with water and massage into the scalp. Let it sit for a few minutes and rinse. Repeat for 5–7 days and see if you notice a difference.

Olive Oil

Scalp dryness can be cured with the regular use of extra-virgin olive oil, an effective natural moisturizer. Just apply a little bit of unrefined organic olive to scaly patches on the scalp. Leave it on for at least 45 minutes or overnight and then shampoo and condition your hair.


The curd is rich in antibacterial properties that help you to fight dandruff. Apply some curd to your hair and scalp. Let it sit tight for about an hour. Rinse it off with a shampoo that’s mild.

 Fenugreek Pack

Fenugreek seeds contain antibacterial and antifungal properties that help to treat dandruff. The best way to use fenugreek seeds for hair is to soak the seeds in water overnight and then grind them to a paste in the morning  Let the paste sit for about an hour. Rinse it off with a mild shampoo.

Baking soda

Baking soda is a powerful and effective way of getting rid of your dandruff. Baking soda reduces overactive fungi that can cause dandruff. Wet your hair and then rub a handful of baking soda vigorously into your scalp. Skip the shampoo and go right to rinsing. Repeat once or twice a week for a few weeks.
